George Clooney stressed the need for the Parthenon Marbles to be reunited and return home to Greece from the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.

Responding to Greek Reporter’s question, Clooney said that it’s a matter of time for the Parthenon Marbles to be back home.

“I had expressed my opinion in the past and it remains the same that these pieces of art will be joined back together and it’s a matter of when and who does it.”

The actor producer and director who had earlier received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, did not talk about his wife’s involvement on the issue, noting that “she is a brilliant barrister who does her own things.”

Amal Alamuddin-Clooney, a human rights lawyer, visited Greece in September 2014 to support the reunification of the Marbles that were taken by Lord Elgin while Greece was under Turkish occupation and today are housed at the British Museum which denies to send them home.

During the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, Clooney also gave a heartfelt speech while accepting HFPA’s highest honor, thanking the people he’s worked with over the years, as well as his new wife talking about how grateful he is to have found her.  He also referenced the million-person march in Paris on Sunday, ending his speech with “Je Suis Charlie”.
